CREATING A COMMUNITY
Sutton Rose is a luxury, state-of-the-art, care home, set in the heart of Sutton Coldfield. Our aim in developing the home was not simply to provide a wonderful environment for elderly people, but also to create a place where the local community could come together.
In agreement with Birmingham City Council we have established the ‘Boldmere Place Community Family’ - a committee made up of members of the local community and their representatives, as well as management staff from the home. It will be this body that ensures that facilities at the home are enjoyed by all.
We will look to partner with local charities and organisations such as Age Concern to ensure that the home fulfils its potential to benefit not just its residents, but also local people generally.
We want our Bistro to become a place for community participation in the daily life of the home. Hot meals will be available, along with private dining facilities, and we hope to see local produce for sale. We want to create a place where local people, families and friends can come together to meet and relax. It will be open Monday to Saturday every day for members of the community to enjoy. Within the Bistro a Library Book Section will be created to enable members of the community to access a range of books and encourage interactions between the local community and residents.
Although we don’t anticipate that regular public viewings in our cinema will be possible due to the restricted capacity of the space, members of the Bolder Family Community Group will be able to attend screenings on the basis of up to three members enjoying the facility at any one time.
Our Gym facilities will be open to those members of the local community aged over 70, as part of our drive to keep people fit and active well into their later years.
Externally the large courtyard will provide an excellent environment for activities and relaxation. Again we hope that this space will be shared with visitors and local people, to become a true community amenity. Taken together these facilities represent a fantastic environment for local people to enjoy and we hope that this will foster a real spirit of camaraderie and togetherness between local people and care home residents and staff.
Engaging with local Schools
As part of our commitment to assist local initiatives Macc Care has agreed to fund the creation of a special external learning environment for local children with autism. In conjunction with the Federation of Boldmere Schools we have sponsored this project which will be particularly useful to pupils aged between 4 and 7 years of age, who previously had no outside learning environment to help them develop in their learning. There will an astroturfed area for year round use, a pergola giving shelter in all weathers, a sandpit and mudpit to aid cognitive development - all contained in a safe and secure space. The home, in conjunction with the schools, wants to generate a long-term relationship that will have a number of ongoing benefits for both local young people and older residents in the home. This is an exciting development which will create strong links between young and old.
Facilities & amenities
“The range of facilities within the home is of the highest quality. On the lower ground floor there will be a café, community activity lounge, gym, cinema, wellness suite, and a faithroom for religious worship and meditation. The ground floor will have a beautifully appointed reception area as well as a quiet lounge for when residents and visitors would like to be more reflective.”
All internal spaces, fixtures, fittings and are well above the minimum standard required and are designed to deliver an environment that is perfectly suited to the challenges of the modern health climate. The home will accommodate up to 85 residents, and offers exceptional facilities for them to enjoy.
All bedrooms are individually decorated to a luxury standard. They come complete with ensuite wet room facilities, ensuring privacy and dignity for residents at all times. Each room also contains a high specification call system, premium quality furniture and furnishings as well as a television. Although Sutton Rose’s facilities are of the highest quality, we do encourage residents to bring their own treasured possessions so that they feel totally at home.

On each floor of the home there will be fabulous light and airy communal spaces. On the first floor there are two beautiful lounges, one acting as a quiet lounge. To connect with the outdoors there is also a large balcony where residents can sit and enjoy the warmer weather. The second floor of the home continues the light and spacious theme with two further lounges, and another balcony area. In the summer months the courtyard gardens will also act as the perfect spot for residents to enjoy outdoor activities.
Additional services include; a laundry service, access to a weekly in-house hairdresser, massages and manicures. We also can arrange for sessions including, Aromatherapy, Chiropodist, Chiropractor, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dental Hygiene and Eye Testing.
We believe Sutton Rose sets a new benchmark for quality in care home design. Macc Care is proud to have developed some of the finest care homes in the West Midlands over the last few years and Sutton Rose is a fantastic addition to that tradition and the Macc Care family.
We look forward to helping the people of Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding area to find friendship and happiness in their later years, as part of our lovely community.
